Auckland is a lovely quiet city. Reminded me a little of Cowes on the Isle of White as everyone is big on sailing.
The transport system is basic, but a good bus system opperates in the city. I have travelled around all the city and been up the Sky Tower.

Air New Zealand is a great airline and I am looking forward to flying with them again...

Planning to hire a bike tomorrow and cycle down to Mission Bay and take some rays. Although I have told to watch my skin and use plenty of sunscreen as the Ozone layer is particularly thin and the sun can burn twice as quickly compared to other locations...

Arriving in Hong Kong on the 14th Dec

When I arrived in Hong kong it was starting to get dark and there was a slight coolness to the air. The passport control was quick and easy so i thought i might have to wait for my bags, but as i arrived at the carosel my bag awaited me. Getting around Hong kong is easy with all signs in chinese and english, so finding the train was no trouble as it was straight ahead after customs. The train ticket was another suprise as $300 got a return ticket and two days unlimited travel on the hong kong tube, but in fact I never had to buy another ticket all the time in hong kong. All travel is cheap in hong kong and its all very well organised. Finding my hotel was fun as the are so many signs on the streets, buildings cram so much into them and most buildings are 17 floors plus. The hotel was not great but the bed was comfy and the shower had plenty of hot water. I dumped my bags headed out to explore Kolwoon,

Honk Kong Airport

I am about to leave Hong Kong, my brief stay was great fun. I saw the Big Budda on Lantu Island and explored the streets on Hong Kong Island and Kowloon. I will be back some day to do it again.

The Airport must be one of the best in the world... its so big and there is so much to do....

The transport system is so good and the cost is relatively cheap across the board. Always weqr your seat belt in the Taxi as thy drive like maniacs, worse than me.

I have lots of Photos to post. Once I am at my cousins I will post a few good ones and record some of the highlights so far.. One that sticks in my memory was the free Vodka at a bar called Volume..... For an half and a half you could get free vodka and a mixer..... we had them lined up on the table.... So funny....

Route 4 – The Waterfall Way

Coffs Harbour – Bellingen – Dorrigo – Meldrum – Ebor – Cathedral Rock – Dorrigo – Platypus Flat – Ulong – Lowanna – Coramba – Coffs Harbour

This is a fascinating and scenic long day’s discover of the New England Tableland. For a shorter alternative, see the spectacular Dangar Falls near Dorrigo then return to Coffs via Cascade and Coramba.

Better still, stay a night in Dorrigo and explore further afield. Take the highway south from Coffs and turn inland to Bellingen. Take a break in this fun and funky country town. Between Bellingen and Dorrigo, pause at the first of the waterfalls – the Newell and Sherrard Falls – then visit the Dorrigo Rainforest Centre with its visitor information centre, forest walks and breathtaking Skywalk.

From Dorrigo township, take the longer route to the Ebor Falls and Cathedral Rock – or choose the shorter return route, passing the lofty Dangar Falls then driving through the dense forests of the Cascade National Park. An interesting side-route runs from Cascade to Platypus Flat on the Nymboida, site of adventurous river rafting expeditions. Return to Coffs Harbour via Ulong and Coramba.

The Star Ferry's ferry crossings at Victoria Harbour are acclaimed as an important part of the commuter system between Hong Kong Island and Kowloon, and essential journeys for visitors.

The National Geographic Traveler named the ferry crossing as one of 50 places of a lifetime. The ferry ride is also well known as one of the world’s best value-for-money sightseeing trips.

The Star Ferry traces its origins to 1880 when Dorabjee Naorojee Mithaiwala, a Parsee cook, embarked on a new vocation. He began a ferry service across Victoria Harbour with his steamboat, the Morning Star. The fledgling service was known as the Kowloon Ferry Company. A local newspaper reported in 1888 that the ferry ran at all hours between Pedders Wharf and Tsimshatsui on a 40-minute to one-hour trip. On Mondays and Fridays, the service halted for the boat’s coaling. By 1890, the Kowloon Ferry boasted four single-deck Star Ferries. Later on, the ferries acquired a second deck.

During the next ten years, businessman Sir Catchick Paul Chater bought all the boats and in May 1898 the Star Ferry Company, as it is known today, became a public company. Its name derives from the ferries, which all bore the name “Star”.

The Company celebrated its centenary in 1998. Its fleet of 12 ferries is now serving two franchised ferry routes between Tsimshatsui and Central, and Tsimshatsui and Wanchai, and two licensed ferry routes, between Hunghom and Central and Hunghom and Wanchai. In addition to ferry services, Star Ferry launched the only licensed harbour tour (Star Ferry's Harbour Tour) in Hong Kong in July 2003. The one-hour journey starts in Tsimshatsui and goes on to Central, Wanchai and Hunghom before returning to Tsimshatsui, allowing visitors to take in a variety of harbour views at leisure.

Starting from 12 November 2006, due to the pier relocation for Central Reclamation Phase III, Star Ferry continues its ferry services at the Central Star Ferry Piers (Central Pier No. 7 & the western berth of the Central Pier No. 8). The Central Star Ferry Piers with its elegant clock tower is the re-creation of a distinctive building reinforcing the history and character of the Star Ferry with its identity as an important landmark at the new waterfront in Central.

From Tweed Heads head to Coolangatta. Take a break and explore this lovely seaside village. From Coolangatta surf club take the walking track to Rainbow Beach and have a lovely swim in this very sheltered beach. It is also well known for its amazing surf. A great lunch can be had a the surf club overlooking Coolangatta Beach.

Since September I have been studying PHP programming and I intend to start looking at Flash as the PHP is not really my speciality... Last week I also took some exams for a new job. So you may see me somewhere you may not expect if I pass the exam and interview...

With winter on the way. Its the perfect time to stay in and get some of the jobs done. You just do not want to go out into the cold and dark streets. So venture to the back of the cupboard to sort the old photos or clothes that need to go to the charity shop.

I am working on my holiday photos from the summer. Making a large scrapbook of holiday memories with the leaflets, shopping bags, photos, tickets and momentoes. Its bring back the memories and at the end of my hard work I shall have a lovely resource mapping out my holidays from 2008 rather than a mess of photos and leaflets in not order.
